Housing Support Fund

The Household Support Fund (HSF) provided by the Department for Work and Pensions, is a fixed amount of money available to the local authority to support households in most need with essentials such as:
- food
- energy
- essential goods and supplies, including water
Application Based Support: Household Support Fund
Citizens Advice Service in Three Rivers (CASTR) will be distributing grants of up to £500 to Three Rivers households currently facing financial hardship. The funds are intended to help households with food costs and energy payments. We are managing this on behalf of Three Rivers District Council and Thrive Homes
When the fund starts
We will be accepting applications from 12 August 2024, and will continue to accept applications until 30 September 2024 or until all funding has been exhausted, if sooner.
Who is eligible
- You must be a Three Rivers resident
- You must be experiencing financial hardship, particularly with covering costs linked to food and energy
- You must be liable for energy/fuel costs for your home
- Your household must not have received a HSF grant payment in the last 3 months
- You must comply with any reasonable conditions concerning the grant award. This may include receiving support from advice agencies
- You will need to provide 3 most recent payslips/proof of earnings or benefits statements, last 3 months bank account statements
How to apply
- To apply, you will need to complete the Household Support Fund 5 application.

What happens after you apply
- CASTR will assess any submitted applications and decide if you are eligible based on your application and circumstances.
- Applications will be processed within 15 working days
- CASTR will let you know the decision by email or telephone.
- If you are successful, you will receive either, £100, £200, £300 or £500 food and/or energy voucher depending on your situation.

Can I apply more than once?
No, you can only apply once before the end of September 2024.
Preventing fraud
We must make sure that all applications are made legitimately.
You may have committed an offence under the Fraud Act 2006 if you:
- falsely declare your circumstances
- provide a false statement
- provide false evidence in support of your application
